My Facebook post yesterday during a snowstorm...

Snow is the least of our problems...The winter storm has closed many churches today which could be a blessing in disguise. As a substitute sermon, please hear this discussion between two solid Christian conservatives who are thoughtful & principled, heard here speaking the truth (Wehner is probably my favorite columnist): The MAGA Jesus vs. the Real Jesus - by Charlie Sykes  Granted, a society drifting away from God is at the heart of our problems. But in second place is a Satan directed far-right media that for years has duped conservatives/Christians into buying the disinformation/conspiracies spewed in support of a MAGA-fascist movement. Never in my wildest nightmares would I have ever thought Christians could stand for evil, but here we are.

The violence & shootings in Minneapolis clearly expose the lies & deception running through our society. When I hear MAGA Trumpers say our free-speech right to protest is instead unlawful assembly, so the Mn. murder victims should not have been there & deserved to get shot, I don't think such comments are really coming from those people. Instead, it's the demons that are unleashed inside a person's head from being brainwashed by that alternative-reality messaging. This has created a huge MAGA cult of tens of millions of Americans which represents the greatest internal threat to our country & democracy since the Confederacy in the Civil War. And there is no dispute that Trump's largest & most loyal base, the one group most responsible for electing that dangerous demagogue twice, is Evangelical Christians.

As a Christian I can't emphasize enough how much this unholy allegiance is not only devastating to our nation, but is crippling to our church & faith. The majority of Americans are thoroughly disgusted with the MAGA curse that has overtaken America, knowing Trump supporters are to blame for this mess. If Evangelicals try to witness to most folks out there in this current bitterly-divided climate, they might as well hold their breath. Even though they're oblivious to how toxic their testimony has become, my message to Evangelicals is this---the world isn't buying what you're selling & with good reason. It is your own fault for falling for demon-like messaging from far-right media. It is your own foolishness & hypocrisy that has destroyed your Christian witness & the church's reputation, causing millions to either leave the church or would never consider going there in the first place.

So good luck with your self-righteous fake-religion crusade that is the antithesis of everything Jesus taught. Your mind is sick & your soul diminished. You believe lies & that fact is irrefutable. I do believe you serve & worship a supernatural force, but it's a being other than Christ. You've smeared the name of Jesus by promoting your falsehoods, smugly blaming non-believers & liberals when the bigger problem can be revealed if you'd only look in the mirror. This mass deception that you've signed onto may soon destroy our country & church, since no free society can survive for long when a large plurality of the citizenry routinely dismiss reality. You've brought on a disaster that all us sane Americans will hold you accountable for, plus when you leave this Earth I suppose the Good Lord will pass his own judgement on what you've done. Your deranged mindset is the reason you deny facts in a multitude of ways, including this twisted belief that would allow you to blame murder victims for being killed while defending the murderers! You boast of being pro-life, but your position should also extend to people AFTER they're born.

Trump's rabid power grab here & abroad while unleashing violence on dissenters, all being disguised through friendly propaganda media, offer shades of Putin's Russia or Nazi Germany. So it's anyone's guess how much worse or out of control this chaos might get in America. The people still have a voice so it's not too late, we still have a window of opportunity to save both church & country. But that requires Christians abandoning Satan-inspired MAGA media, returning to Jesus & his teachings of truth & grace...
